Eric Perez, Owner/ Open Water Instructor
At the age of 16, Eric moved to Cozumel from a small town on the Yucatan Peninsula. He was drawn to the slow, tranquil pace of island life. His love for the ocean flourished from snorkel guide to divemaster within the first few years of living in Cozumel. He went on to work for a large dive Operation, Dive Paradise, as a dive guide and continued for over 14 years.
With all the tremendous knowledge and experience gained over the years as a divemaster, Eric branched out to become an entrepreneur guiding his own customers along the reefs of Cozumel. After several years, as an independent divemaster, Eric met Milton Evans and Karla Fulfer, owners of Challenge Diving.
In 2009, after the first year of operations, they hired Eric as Operations Manager. Eric was also instrumental in redesigning their first boat, Sleeping Shark which remains with the company now.
In 2015, Milton and Karla sold off the company assets allowing Eric the opportunity to take over the business. Full of enthusiasm and determination, Eric became the owner.
When Eric is not diving or running the business, he is spending time with his family, playing sports or simply enjoying the slow pace of island life.

Eric Perez Jr., Divemaster
Born and raised in Cozumel, from the age of five Eric spent many hours watching underwater videos and aspiring to become a Divemaster. By the age of seven, he was freediving in Cozumel waters and by the time he was 12 years old he was a Scuba Diver.
Following in his father’s footsteps, Eric knew he wanted to work in the Scuba Industry at a very young age. After high school, his father encouraged him to try other industries but Eric’s love for the ocean was too intense. Months later Eric knew his heart was in the Scuba Industry and became a divemaster.
He has spent the last number of years providing exceptional divemaster services to many of Challenge Diving’s clients.
When Eric is not diving, he enjoys spending time with his two lovely daughters and wife.
